The Spiritual Abuse Institute (SAI) is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to addressing and preventing spiritual abuse. While not a church, SAI is made up of believers from diverse Christian backgrounds who are united in our faith in God and our commitment to SAI’s mission.
We affirm the core truths of the Christian faith as revealed in Scripture and confessed in the ancient creeds of the Church. While we recognize and honor the rich diversity of Christian traditions, we hold to the following essential beliefs as the foundation of our work:
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—a perfect unity of love and holiness.
The Father is the Creator of all things, sovereign over history, and full of grace and truth.
The Son, Jesus Christ, is fully God and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, died, and rose again for our salvation. He ascended into heaven and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
The Holy Spirit is the giver of life, the presence of God among us, who convicts, comforts, and empowers believers for holy living and service.
We believe that the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are divinely inspired, trustworthy, and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
We believe all people are created in the image of God, with dignity and worth. Because of sin, humanity is separated from God and in need of redemption. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—a gift of God, not earned by works, but received through trusting in Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Universal Church is not a human institution but a spiritual body—the Body and Bride of Christ—made up of all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The Church was established at Pentecost and grows as each believer is joined to it through the work of the Holy Spirit at the time of salvation.
We affirm the value of local churches, which are gatherings of professing believers in Christ who come together in a particular place to worship God, study His Word, observe the ordinances, share in fellowship, and equip one another for Christian service.
We believe that followers of Christ are called to love God and neighbor, to walk in holiness, and to uphold truth, mercy, and justice. The Church is to be a place of healing, integrity, and accountability, reflecting the character of Christ.
We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Christ will return to establish His kingdom fully, and God will make all things new.
While we hold firmly to these essential beliefs, we recognize that Christians and churches have different theological perspectives on secondary matters.
We seek to honor all who confess Christ and to work alongside believers and local churches across traditions for the sake of the Gospel, the protection of the vulnerable, and the healing of those harmed by spiritual abuse.
